Here's my painting from the Plein Air Easton quick draw- artists were given 2 hours to do a painting in town. Below is a photo of the scene that inspired me- this man, Charlie, has been selling his farm's fruits and veggies at the Easton farmer's market for over 30 years...Thus the painting's title, "Charlie's Stand."
"Plein air" painting means painting outdoors, where you can directly observe your subject. This coming weekend I will be participating in an annual plein air painting festival in Easton, MD. One of the festival's events is the "quick draw" in which artists are challenged to complete a painting in two hours within a specific area of the town of easton. From what I've heard, a lot of people come to watch. I've started to prepare for the event by doing some plein air painting in my backyard and limiting my working time to 90 minutes. Here is painting I did looking up at some trees in my backyard.
